1. President Goodluck Jonathan honoured 100 persons with Nigeria Centenary Awards, marking the Nigeria’s centenary celebration. Genaral Buhari was in the list of the recipients.
2. Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have taken to custody Mohammed Buhari, who is the alleged adopted son of the former head of state Gen. Buhari. Mohammed was apprehended for an alleged N20 million scam.
3. Gen. Muhammdu Buhari (rtd.) was the target of one of the bomb attacks that occured in Kaduna on Wednesday, 23 July, 2014.
The former ruler of Nigeria survived the attack, but three of his aides and security personnel traveling with Buhari to Daura, his hometown, were confirmed injured in the afternoon blast.
4. Thousands of APC supporters gathered at Eagles Square, FCT Abuja, on October 15, 2014, Wednesday, as General Buhari declared his presidential bid.
The organisers of the rally and the observers emphasised that the event had no crowd buying and no presidential funding.
5. Muhammadu Buhari was officially announced as the main opposition candidate in next year’s Nigerian presidential ballot after triumphing in a primary election on December 11, 2014, Thursday.
Buhari will face President Goodluck Jonathan in a February 2015 vote to be held against a backdrop of economic troubles and security fears tied to relentless violence by Islamist militants in Africa’s most populous and biggest oil-producing country.
