Buhari Will Not To Participate In BON Presidential Debate – APC

3
APC says it’s presidential candidate Gen Buhari will not be participating in the presidential debate being organized by the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria BON and the Nigeria Election Debate Group (NEDG) .
In a statement released today January 29th by Garna Shehu, the Director, Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation (APCPCO), they said Buhari will not be participating in the debate as the composition of those organizing the debate was mainly of agencies and allies of the incumbent People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) administration. Continue…
The statement reads in part;
“A cursory inspection of the composition of NEGD brings into focus the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), National Television Authority (NTA), Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and the Africa Independent Television (AIT, owned by a PDP chieftain). And going by the avalanche of inflammatory statements, misinformation and blatant lies being propagated by some of these media against our Party and candidates contrary to the Kofi Annan brokered Abuja Peace Accord, and the failure of these aggressors to desist and apologise, have left the APC Campaign with no option than to steer clear of any premeditated smear campaign that could be inimical to our prospective electoral success,” .

“It’s Time To Vote Out ” I Will Do President – Amaechi Blasts Jonathan

2077756_jonathanamaechi
Governor Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State has called on Nigerians to vote out President Goodluck Jonathan over his inability to achieve anything meaningful since he assumed office six years ago.
Amaechi who described Jonathan as “I will do’’ president affirmed that Nigeria would no longer welcome Jonathan’s empty promises of ‘I will do’.
The governor who doubles as the DG of the Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign Organisation made this call in Benin, the Edo State capital during the presidential rally of the party in the state.
Addressing the mammoth crowd that came out to welcome the Peoples General on Thursday, Amaechi mocked Jonathan for admitting that he had not achieved anything since he came on board during his rally in Port Harcourt.
Speaking on Jonathan’s promises, Amaechi said: “Yesterday, the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in person of Goodluck Jonathan admitted that he had not done anything in the South South region. You heard him.
DAILY POST recalls that Jonathan had admitted the criticism by Governor Amaechi that his government has not done anything for the people of Rivers State.
President Jonathan, who spoke during the presidential rally of the Peoples Democratic Party at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Igwuruta-Ali, Ikwerre Local Government of Rivers State, however yesterday, promised to develop the South-South region if elected for a second term in office.
““We did not divide North or South; we made sure that all the states that had no federal university got a federal university.
I am not going to comment on development in Rivers State and Bayelsa states. I can reassure you that just work with us; vote for us on February 1
Reacting further, Amaechi said, ”He only promised to do and not what he had done. Our responsibility is to get a man who is capable of making things happen. He told us to vote for him that he will do.”
Do you know what I call him now? I will do president. If you listen to his speech all he keep saying is I will do and not I have done.
You will agree with me that all the projects in south south region of the country were erected by a northerner.
And our president after six years is still telling us that ‘I will do’. I tell you it is time to vote out I will do President and vote in a man who has good records of achievements? One thing about trust is when it is betrayed, you can never repair it. Jonathan has betrayed the trust, it is time to push him out.
‘’If our president has not been able to perform, what do we do to him,” the crowed chorused, ”let’s vote him out.’’

Hoodlums Set Ablaze APC’s Campaign Vehicles In Akwa Ibom

rioters
Some hoodlums suspected to be working for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday set ablaze two cars belonging to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State.
The vehicles, a Volvo station wagon and a Toyota Hilux vehicle, were set ablaze alongside campaign canopies belonging to the opposition APC.
The attack on APC facilities occurred at the Oron Stadium, Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking on the development, the assistant director, Media and Publicity of Umana Okon Umana Campaign Organisation, Bonny Nyong, said before the attack, news had circulated in the local tabloids that the Oron local government chairman, Orman Esin, was arranging to hire thugs to attack the APC facilities.
But the director, Media and Publicity, Udom/Moses 2015 Campaign Organisation, Ekerette Udoh, dissociated the PDP from the attack on the APC.
Udoh stated that since Udom/Moses campaign is based on ideas on how to create employment for the teeming youths of the state, sponsoring attacks against political parties is alien to the organisation.
The commissioner of police, Akwa Ibom State, Gabriel Achong, condemned the attacks on Akpabio and on the APC campaign facilities at Oron Stadium.
and warned Oron youths against attacking any other political parties in the state.
He stated that the youths might have been disenchanted by Oronians by what they think it was their turn to produce the next governor.
His words: “When they stoned the PDP and the governor, we did not blame it on APC. If any other political parties still go there to campaign, they will still stone them.”
saying the development would engender other ethnic groups to also attack other political parties that would go to other areas for their electioneering.
The Police boss said the vehicles were burnt around 1am and the party did not contact the police before erecting their canopy for campaign at the stadium.

Jimi Agbaje Reacts To Tax Evasion Indictment By Gov Fashola

Jimi-Agbaje
Find the press statement signed by Jimi Agbaje’s media director, Felix Oboagwina below.
Mr. Jimi Agbaje expresses surprise at this rather personal and unprovoked attack against his person by Governor Raji Fashola.
Just in January, the Commissioner for Finance sent a personal letter to Mr. Agbaje, commending him for his faithfulness in payment of taxes relating to his residence.
It is a curious contradiction that several days later, the Governor himself would express sentiments clearly in contradiction to the spirit and letter of that voluntary and unsolicited commendation from the state.
Are they feeling the heat of Agbaje and PDP’s impending victory in the state, or how does one explain this recourse to personal attacks recently embarked upon by chieftains of APC?
Although he founded JayKay Pharmaceuticals, Mr. Agbaje left the directorship of the company in 2006, and this is on record with the state.
He is no longer involved in the running of the company.
And today, he is not even an Executive Director.
We have a letter signed by Ayo Gbeleyi, Honourable Commissioner for Finance in Lagos State, where Agbaje received commendations for fulfilling his tax obligations.
The letter from the Ministry says: “A review of our payment records from 2011 shows that you have been consistent with the payment of Land Use Charge on the above property (Agbaje’s residence in Apapa).
“The Lagos State Government wishes to express its appreciation to you on your consistent fulfilment of your civil responsibility and your singular contribution towards the development of the state.
“We look forward to your continued cooperation in this regard.”
It will be recalled that the Governor only about two weeks ago said that Agbaje was too old to be Governor, although the PDP Candidate is only 57.
This fresh outburst amounts to another futile attempt at mudslinging by a desperado group that is up against a formidable opponent, and it has only succeeded in staining the source.
Lagosians should be wary of APC and its bag of tricks.

Declare A Public Holiday For PVC Collection – IPAC Chairman Urge FG

2076695_pvcs1360x203
The chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, Mr. Yinusa Tanko, has urged the Federal Government to declare a public holiday to help Nigerians collect their permanent voter cards.
Tanko made the call during a telephone interview with our reporter on Thursday, after he and other party leaders had met with the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Attahiru Jega.
“The challenge is that so many people are finding it difficult to leave their places of work to chase PVCs.
Some of the places where the (collection) offices are, are far from where people are domiciled.
If there is a general holiday, people would know that the day is for the collection of the PVC and they would spare time to go and collect it,” Tanko said.
The permanent voter cards are issued to potential voters who registered during an exercise that lasted for months.
But collection has been hampered by poor logistics and chaos at collection points.
Tanko warned that the poor collection record could have an adverse effect on Nigeria’s democracy.
He said, “It is important for us to have this election. We can’t afford to go back to the (era of) June 12 when we had an election and the military truncated it. Therefore, we (the parties) have developed an attitude that says let’s find a solution to the problem.
“People were disenchanted with INEC before but the level of commitment shown by INEC gives room for a lot of hope. People didn’t understand that when you register and your name doesn’t appear in the register, then you haven’t registered. You would have to register again.”
Do you think FG should declare public holiday for PVC collection?

We Saw Helicopters Dropping Arms, Food For Boko Haram – Residents

-
Displaced residents of Monguno, in Borno State, which was recently taken over by Boko Haram, have said they saw helicopters dropping arms and food items for the insurgents in the bushes.
The IDPs, who said they spent about 48 hours in the bush running towards Maiduguri, expressed worry that the Boko Haram sect was not the only ones involved in the insurgency, but that there are many foreign fighters and some external supports.
Leader of the Nigeria Vigilante Group in Monguno, Muhammed Sani,50, said he had, on several occasions, spotted unusual delivery of items in big wooden boxes by air, and sacks being dropped in the bushes around Marte and Monguno where Boko Haram terrorists were camped.
“Even during the attack on Monguno, there was an aircraft that came but did not do anything, not even dropping a single bomb before it left; then another one later came around the Monguno barracks and we saw four men alighting from the aircraft, using a rope. The aircraft left, but we doubt if they were soldiers.
“Even before then, some of my colleagues and I have been sighting helicopters dropping items in sacks and some in boxes to them at the camp of Boko Haram near Chikungudu and Kwalaram villages. Many helicopters came to drop items packed in boxes and sacks to the Boko Haram insurgents at a bush camp between Monguno and Marte; then we would see the Boko Haram gunmen rushing to the spot to pick the dropped items,” he stated.
The displaced vigilante officials said those that attacked Monguno comprised hundreds of foreigners who looked like Chadians.
“Many of them looked like Chadian Arabs – they were light-skinned with coiled hair, and there were many young men from Monguno – who Boko Haram had abducted when Nganzai was attacked last year – that were now active members of the sect.
“While Boko Haram members that are former youths of Monguno were leading other insurgents to attack Monguno town, the foreigners were the ones engaging soldiers near the barracks,” he explained.
Sani, who said he had lived in Monguno for the past 20 years, said he fled amidst the hail of bullets when the terrorists became irritated by his anti-bullet charms that rendered bullets ineffective. His shirt and trousers were riddled by bullets, yet he remained unhurt, he said.

See How The Ekiti State University Peaceful Protest By Students Turn Bloody

10801683_949322641753404_2869113803842981759_n
The drama started when the students of Ekiti State University in affiliation with Michael Otedola College of Primary education staged a peaceful protest to agitate against the unfair treatment of d management of the institution.
A press release by the mother institution (Ekiti State University) on the 23rd of January 2015 prompted this protest. In the publication, MOCPED was accused of huge indebtedness and non remittance of students result to the school (EKSU) senate for approval. This press release and the unfair treatment of students on this campus prompted students to demand for explanation from the school management.
Some of the things agitated for by the students include:-
1. Untimely release of examination result
2. Embezzlement of our school fees
3. Non remittance of Eksu’s fund
4. Non processing of students certificate
5. Unstable academic calendar
6. Poor managerial setting
7. Poor administration of the degree program.
The peaceful protest was later turned sour on the arrival of the army. On their (soldiers) arrival, they started shooting to the air & at the same time harassing the students with their ammunition without hearing the students view. Students where tortured like criminals without committing any crime. At a point, the soldiers started looting nearby hostels and any student found inside the hostel was seriously dealt with.
Many students were injured by this soldiers without any justifiable reason. I am yet to fathom the reason why those who are supposed to protect our fundamental human right are the ones infringing on our right. How long will this continue? When will all this maltreatment stop? This act is totally repugnant to natural justice and we want the government to intervene in this issue. We can’t continue this way. Please government come to our aid. Our destiny is at stake.

68.8 Million PVCs Ready For Collection – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), yesterday, showed commitment to a smooth conduct of the February general elections, as it said all Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) had been printed and are ready for collection.
Inec2
Reacting to an allegation by the Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, that more than 15 million voters had not collected their cards and 14 million voters cards were yet to arrive the country, INEC, in a phone chat with Vanguard, faulted the claim and confirmed that all PVCs have been printed and are available for collection.
“All the PVCs have been printed. Altogether, 68.8 PVCs were printed. We have received 65 million PVCs which are out for distribution. The remaining 3.8 million PVCs will be out there between tomorrow (today) and Friday,” Kayode Idowu, Chief Press Secretary to INEC National Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega told Vanguard.
The commission urged eligible voters that are yet to collect their PVCs to ensure they do so as soon as possible, to ensure hitch-free polls, warning those without the cards not to come to the polling booths during the elections.
Speaking at a stakeholders consultative meeting towards a successful and violence-free 2015 election, hosted by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Kayode Aderanti, the Lagos State Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC, Akin Orebiyi, threatened to arrest those found around polling units on election day without voters cards.
In Lagos, out of more than four million voters whose PVCs are ready, only 2.3 million had collected. Orebiyi therefore appealed to those who are yet to collect theirs to do so as soon as possible.
There are various categories of people affected by the PVCs; those who registered in 2011 and whose PVCs are ready for collection now — they should go and collect them if they have not; those who registered in 2011, who saw their names on the displayed register at the polling units — their cards are on the way; those who registered in 2011 but who, for one reason or the other, their data are not on INEC’s records ought to have re-registered; those who registered in 2014 – their cards are on the way, if they have not arrived.
“Those who registered in one particular place and have moved to another location and would like to vote in the new place – they ought to have requested for transfer. If they have, this must have been effected. If not, they can only vote where they registered originally.
“Those who did not re-register when they ought to, we have no PVC for you. Stay at home on election day. Those who never registered and are willing to register now- the registration window is closed. Stay at home on election day,” he said.

APC Accuses Jonathan Of Supporting War Threats By Ex-militants

EX-Militants1-300x173
The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation, APCPCO, has berated President Goodluck Jonathan for allegedly identifying with former militants in the Niger Delta who threatened to cause violence should he fail at the February 14 presidential polls.
In a statement by the organisation in Abuja, yesterday, it noted that Jonathan’s unholy alliance with people that served a notice of their intention to foment trouble was against the oath of allegiance he swore to when he became Nigeria’s president in 2011.
APCPCO slammed Jonathan for condoning treasonable statements and gross indiscipline by some of his kinsmen, which the organisation described as sheer display of double standard and selective justice.
How can the President feign ignorance of the war plots and call to arms in Bayelsa State Government House in Yenagoa, supervised by a PDP Governor, Seriake Dickson, and the Presidential Special Adviser on Amnesty Programme, Kingsley Kuku, with majority of Niger Delta ex-militant kinsmen?” APCPCO queried in the statement signed by the Director of Media and Publicity of the APCPCO, Mallam Garba Shehu.
“Whereas this President was quick to condemn MEND for allegedly supporting the opposition candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, and lambasted claims by the hoax Federal Government-hired Australian negotiator with the Boko Haram, Dr Stephen Davis; publicly bad-mouthed his critics particularly former Head of State, Olusegun Obasanjo; yet he has refused to call to order tribal war-mongers like Kingsley Kuku and his cohorts – Asari Dokubo, Tompolo, Boy Loaf and others.
“This is a total and unequivocal support of Mr. President for aiding and abetting treason in the land, an impeachable offence by all standards.
The group also described recent developments that had to do with distribution of arms and ammunition across the nation was a grand design by the President and his party to scuttle democracy.
It is now common knowledge that strange planes and helicopters laden with arms have been landing at unauthorised spots in some parts of the country. The incident in Kano where a cargo plane supposedly going to neighbouring country of Niger landed unexpectedly, and the use of drones one of which allegedly crashed recently; coupled with the shady movement of millions of raw dollars to do undercover black market buying of weapons in South Africa.”
“All these incidents ride against the tide of transparency and public accountability and a clear breach of the President’s oath of allegiance to the country’s constitution,” the statement added.

Agbaje’s Firm Owes N1.6m Land Use Charge – Fashola

fashola-speaking-NL
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, has said Jaykay Pharmacy Limited, owned by the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party owes the Lagos State Government about N1.6m land use charge.
According to him, the land use charge, which the company should have remitted to the office of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service, had accrued for four consecutive years.
Speaking at the 8th Annual Lagos State Taxation Stakeholders Conference on Wednesday, Fashola said the free education and free health care provided for Lagos residents were funded from the tax.
The governor said, “Jaykay Pharmacy has not paid land use charge for 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. It paid in 2013 and 2014. It owes this government N1, 629, 064.62.
How many books will it have bought in the schools? How many drugs will it have provided in the hospital? I will advise you that you avoid inexperience. I will advise you that you avoid experiment.”
He advised the citizens not to accept promises of tax exemption from politicians because it would not sustain the state.
The governor recalled that he predicted that oil revenue, which the country largely depended on, was not sustainable when he assumed office, adding that Lagos State prepared ahead of the oil plunge by ensuring total compliance with tax remittance.
Fashola added, “Inspite of the oil drop, we paid salaries in December. And this month salaries have already been credited.
The Federal Government and some states have not paid since October while some have not paid for eight months.
But because we took our destiny in our hands, we wear our tax compliance as a badge of honour. Despite the economic problems, this state will continue to survive.
“Even the umbrella party were criticising us that we are taxing people excessively. They forgot that the law by which we collect the income tax, they amended it.
They cannot manoeuvre us. We are always ahead of them.”
He added that the Federal Government was seven years behind Lagos State in taking proactive measures to sustain the economy by increasing revenue through tax generation and collection.
The Chairman, LIRS, Mr. Babatunde Fowler, said the agency had recorded 96 per cent voluntary tax compliance in the organised private sector under the umbrella body of the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association, a record, which he explained, showed the success of the initiative.

AIT Takes Down Online Poll Where Buhari Was Leading Jonathan

Yesterday we reported that AIT conducted an Online Poll HERE and Buhari was leading but unfortunately the Poll has been removed.
11
African Independent Television (AIT) has suddenly removed a popular online poll where the All Progressives Congress party candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, was resoundingly beating President Goodluck Jonathan.
Buhari’s lead in the poll was despite the president’s shelling out of N5 million per daily showing of his sponsored documentary against Buhari that was being repeatedly shown on AIT stations across Nigeria, and online.
Earlier on Tuesday, SaharaReporters published a screenshot of the poll, which at that time showed Buhari well ahead by over 76%.
As the day wore on, the poll saw Buhari’s lead rise to 79%. It was then swiftly taken down, AIT replacing the page with a claim that the page was “under maintenance.”
That behavior was reminiscent of a similar incident last year by Mr. Jonathan’s social media aide, Reno Omokri, who is Mr. Jonathan’s social media aide. In an effort to provide a rebuttal to a SaharaReporters poll showing Mr. Jonathan being handsomely defeated by General Buhari, Omokri manipulated a poll he had set up, and then hurriedly shut it down with Jonathan ahead of Buhari by 1%.
AIT did not say whether its poll page would return after its ‘maintenance’, but some users had noted earlier that the TV station was allowing multiple voting for President Jonathan.
That was subsequently corrected, a fact that was also noted by users, following which Buhari again regained the lead. AIT then suddenly went into ‘maintenance’.

Chelsea’s Costa Charged By FA For ‘Stamp’ On Can

Diego-Costa-Charged-600x424
Diego Costa has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association (FA) for an alleged stamp on Liverpool’s Emre Can during Tuesday’s League Cup win at Stamford Bridge.
The Spaniard, 26, could be banned for the ‘Blues’s’ next three matches if found guilty of deliberately clashing with Can.
He could miss Saturday’s Premier League match against champions Manchester City at Stamford Bridge, next month’s visit to Aston Villa and the clash with Everton at home.
He has until 18:00 GMT Thursday to respond to the charge.
Costa is being charged for the first two alleged stamps that passed unnoticed by referee Michael Oliver, the latter on central defender Martin Skrtel, which left the Slovak in a heap.
Chelsea won the Capital One Cup semi-final second leg 1-0 to round off a 2-1 aggregate win and will face Tottenham Hotspur in the final at Wembley Stadium on March 1.

Court Lifts Suspension On APC’s Fund-Raising Platform

APC
The Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday restrained five telecoms firms from suspending All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign fund-raising platform.
Justice Ibrahim Buba made the ex-parte order following the party’s motion.
The judge made an order of interim injunction restraining Etisalat, MTN, Glo, Airtel and Visafone from giving effect to a directive by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) which warned them against running political promotions that will portray them as being partisan.
The judge ordered the telecoms firms “to continue to run, operate and/or restore to its full operative use the SMS Code platform 35350 created for fund-raising for the applicant’s presidential campaign.”
The orders are to subsist pending the hearing and determination of APC’s originating motion on notice.
The court also granted APC leave to serve the originating motion on notice and other processes on NCC (the first defendant) outside the court’s jurisdiction.
APC said the platform is to operate till February 12 when campaign activities for the presidential election will end in line with Electoral Act and the election time-table.
In the originating motion, APC is demanding N25billion damages from the defendants for violating the fundamental rights of the party and its members.
It said since the platform was suspended, it has been unable to disseminate or receive information from its supporters via the SMS code 35350.
The party said while the platform was suspended, NCC has allowed that of President Goodluck Jonathan to run seamlessly.
The party said it created a “premium SMS code 35350″ through which willing donors could contribute to its presidential campaign fund.
Within hours of its creation, APC said it was getting about five messages of N100 each every minute. A total of 5,400 messages were received, it said.
However, NCC in a January 19 letter, directed all telecoms service providers “to avoid running political advertisements that will portray them as being partisan.”
NCC said it would “not hesitate to sanction any service provider that will flout this directive.” As a result, the telecoms firms suspended the platform.
However, APC said political parties have been using several media platforms to advertise, with none accused of being partisan.

T.Y. Danjuma Wants Dokubo-Asari, Tompolo, Others Arrested

2075523_img20150128185733
A former Minister of Defence, Theophilus Danjuma, has demanded the immediate arrest of some former Niger Delta militants for threatening to plunge the country into war if President Goodluck Jonathan is not re-elected in the February 14 election.
He stated this on Wednesday in Kano during the commissioning of the multibillion naira Kwakwasiya city, one of the three mega cities built by the administration of Governor Rabi’u Kwankwaso.
The leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, NDPVF, Mujahid Dokubo-Asari; Victor Ben Ebikabowei, aka, Boy Loaf; Government Ekpudomenowei, aka, Tompolo; and other militants had last Saturday vowed to ensure that President Goodluck Jonathan, wins the February presidential election.
The former militant leaders and their followers, who spoke at a meeting in Government House, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, threatened to unleash violence on the country and take back Niger Delta oil should the president lose the election.
They also said any attempt to dethrone Mr. Jonathan would be seen as a direct attack on the Ijaw nation.
Neither the Federal Government nor the president, who is also Ijaw as the militant leaders, has so far reacted to the threat.
Describing the statements as “reckless,” Mr. Danjuma, a retired army general and former Chief of Army Staff, who fought in the Nigerian civil war, said the threats by the militants were not only against national unity but also capable of plunging the country into war.
He asked the security agencies and the government to immediately arrest them.
“You should arrest Asari Dokubo, Tompolo, Boylop and other Niger Delta militants for making reckless statements, which in any way does not mean keeping Nigeria as one entity and creating war situation,” he said.
The Nigeria Police Force and the State Security Service had recently threatened that they would move against anyone who makes inciting statements in the run up to the February elections.
But since the militants’ comments were reported on January 24, both security agencies are not known to have taken action.
Addressing the Yenagoa meeting, Mr. Dokubo-Asari deplored the alleged intimidation being meted to the people of Ijaw stock in Nigeria, saying the people cannot take it any longer.
He told his colleagues, “For every Goliath, God created a David. For every Pharoah, there is a Moses. “We are going to war. Everyone of you should go and fortify yourself.”
Mr. Dokubo-Asari, who condemned the attack on Jonathan in the north in the ongoing presidential campaigns, maintained that the survival of the Ijaw nation rests in the hands of the militants gathered at the meeting.
On his part, Boyloaf condemned the attack on President Jonathan in the north, saying nobody has the monopoly of violence.
He said there is nothing like one Nigeria, pointing out that oil is the only thing binding Nigeria’s diverse nationalities together.
While maintaining that President Jonathan would win the election, he however said if the north takes the power away from Mr. Jonathan, the people of the Niger Delta region would take their oil back.
He stressed the need for oneness of purpose among the people, urging them to keep their grudges aside and face the present challenges facing the Ijaw nation with solidarity.
”Keep grudges and sentiments apart. We are ready to match them bumper to bumper,” Boyloaf said.

Abba-Moro
The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro on Tuesday said the ministry was planning to introduce the e-prison system in order to put an end to incessant prisons breaks.
The Minister said this when a delegation of the Human Rights Commission paid a courtesy visit on him at the ministry in Abuja.
Moro said the ministry was committed to making Nigerian prisons among the best in the world through the rehabilitation and construction of new prisons.
“We are committed to make the prisons one of the best from structure to infrastructure. The ministry inherited a prisons system that was nearly comatose hence it has taken steps to rehabilitate prisons .
“Presently new structures are under construction in various states including Yobe, Ibadan, Kwara, Nnewi among others and before the end of this administration this projects will be commissioned” Moro said.
He said that President Goodluck Jonathan had approved the construction of 200 bed spaces each in Nasarawa and Suleja prisons to improve the living condition of prisoners.
He said that in order to ensure that humane conditions were provided to prisoners the ministry was liasing with the office of the Attorney General of the Federation and various state governments.
He said that this was to ensure quick dispensation of justice for persons awaiting trial.
Moro said that the ministry was currently working with the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police to ensure safety of prisoners and prevent future attacks.
He assured the commission of the ministry’s effort to ensure safety of Nigerians before, during and after the election.
“Officers and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been deployed to various parts of the country.
“They have been adequately trained and the federal government is doing this in order to ensure safety of lives and properties of all Nigerians” the minister said.
Earlier, Ben Angwe, the Executive Secretary, Human Right Commission expressed displeasure with some of the problems in the Nigerian prisons, one of which is congestion.
He said that the commission was, therefore, conducting prisons audit with the support of the National Assembly to support the ministry to solve some of the problems.
While pledging the support of the commission in ensuring that the ministry achieved its set goals, the secretary called on the minister to ensure that all hands are on deck in ensuring the protection of the rights of inmate especially those still awaiting trial.
